4th Annual Walk for the Cure
The Embrace HIV/AIDS Ministry of The Greater Piney
Grove Baptist Church, National AIDS Education & Services for
Minorities (NAESM), and Our Common Welfare (OCW) are having its
4th Annual 5K “Walk For The Cure.” All ages are welcomed
and encouraged to participate. Pledge your walk, energy, and financial
support. Our goal is to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS that is disproportionately
affecting the African American Community. AIDS has the potential
to wipe out an entire generation.

African Americans HIV/AIDS Facts:
African-Americans comprise 28% of Georgia’s
total population yet, of all reported AIDS cases, the proportion
among African Americans has increased during January 1, 2000 to
December 31, 2001 a whopping 77% of all new AIDS cases in the state
of Georgia. (Department of Human Resources DHR, March 31, 2003).
These numbers are reported in a time when medical research has made
great strides in contributing to people with HIV/AIDS living longer,
healthier lives. Unfortunately, not all people with HIV/AIDS have
access to these potential life saving treatments nor do they know
about community resources that lend support.
HEALTH FAIR with FREE HIV TESTING at East
Lake YMCA.
Location: 275 East Lake Blvd.,
Atlanta, GA
Time: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
ALL ARE WELCOMED TO ATTEND/PARTICIPATE
